OUR VISION AND VALUES
New City Church aims to be a place where we see Jesus’ gospel of freedom multiply in our individual lives, in the life of the church, and in our neighborhood. As we experience more and more the deep hope of this gospel, and as we courageously live it out, we see this hope transform those around us.
New City Church is a church that’s built on freedom in the gospel and a faith that is forward thinking — not dwelling in guilt, shame, or fear. We want to see people liberated unto both courage for their present circumstances and hope for the future. Courage and hope are fueled and sustained by two factors: assurance and wisdom. These four tenets on which New City Church stands — assurance, wisdom, courage, and hope — are benchmarks of the Christian experience.
I can have assurance in God’s already finished work on the cross and in the empty tomb. I will never need to prove anything else in this world; God placed infinite value on my life with his blood.
I can find wisdom in the living book — the Bible — gifted by and guided by the Spirit of the living God, meaning I will never need more than I already have: the words of God, empowered by the Spirit of God, right here, right now.
These two truths result in courage for the present and hope for the future. I can act in faith now, knowing that I am not alone and that the one who is with me is greater than anything I face. But additionally, I don’t need to live in fear of the future; this same God will never leave me, and someday he will end evil and suffering once and for all.
Assurance — “I am enough.”
Wisdom — “I have enough.”
Courage — “I am not alone.”
Hope — “I will never be alone.”
